1. Request a Special Educational Needs Assessment
Some children find learning, behaviour or sensory situations more difficult. An assessment can help the school understand their needs.
What to do: Talk to your child's teacher or school SENCo and explain your worries in simple words. Use the GOV.UK information about children with special educational needs to understand the process, then send a written request to the school or council for an assessment.
What do you need: You need examples of your child's difficulties at home and school and any reports you already have.
Outcomes: Your child may be assessed so the school can plan extra support where it is needed.
Lifehack: Keep copies of all letters and emails about your child's support in one folder.
2. Create an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
3. Register with a Local Doctor (GP)
